Funding > Grants Grants Department of Human Services 2002/03 Disability and Health Self Help Funding Programs The Department of Human Services is offering small non-recurrent operating grants for self help groups which support people with either a disability or a chronic illness through the 2002/03 Disability and Health Self Help Funding Programs. To be eligible for funding the self help group must be: · supporting people living with a disability; or · supporting people living with a chronic illness; and · be non profit making; and · be controlled by its members; and · have an ongoing membership; and · not be eligible to apply for other government grants. Small operating grants will be provided for 1 year and are not recurrent. Statewide, regional and local groups may apply. Applications close Monday 9 December 2002
In previous years this funding has been advertised in the major daily newspapers in February or March and payments made to groups in June. In order to avoid difficulties that have occurred for some groups, as a result of the payments being made close to the end of the financial year, it has been decided to bring forward the 2002/03 funding round to commence in November 2002. Groups will be advised of the outcomes of their applications in February 2003. The above information has been supplied by DHS. COSHG Workshop Friday November 15th at 11am 12.30 The Collective Of Self Help Groups will be holding a short workshop for people who are interested in applying for the DHS Health Self Help or Disability Self Help Grants in February. We expect it will be of particular interest to people who have not applied for these grants before and/ or who have questions you are wanting to ask about the grants. Bernice Murphy from DHS will be speaking. The workshop will be at COSHG, 22 Pitt St, Carlton. We hope that this will be a good opportunity for people to visit COSHG and have a cuppa and chat with other people from self help groups. Cost $2. If you would like to attend, please phone COSHG on 9349 2301, best time Wed or Thu 10am-3pm, or email info@coshg.org.au The building is called The Warehouse and it has a coloured mural on the front.
